Staying Positive in a Negative World.

Facebook inspired me to write today. Ironic since I have a love/hate relationship with it.

I never know what kind of day I’m going to have when I wake up. There are days when it starts off hectic and crazy and some mornings are as smooth as a baby’s butt lol. Joking aside though, do you know that staying happy and positive all day is one of the hardest things for a human to do? How do we stay positive in such a negative world? With social media at an all time high it seems like everywhere we turn there is negativity surrounding us. You flip the TV on and hear about all these ridiculous trials, and riots, politics, celebrity scandals. Then two seconds later you can pick up your phone and get on Facebook and you know that Susie from high school is going through a divorce. We have all been guilty of “hey did you see what she/he posted on Facebook?” We all have let our emotions get the best of us when “bob” posted what we think a stupid fucking status and we now think he is the biggest idiot in the world.

Here are a few things that I do to keep me positive daily; first thing I do when I wake up is read a positive word, either from an app on my phone or I have a daily bible verse notepad in my bathroom. Maybe you work out in the morning and need an extra push to wake up or energy, try setting an up beat song or happy song as your ringtone to wake you up. I have Bob Marley playing mostly every morning in our house. Reading or listening to something positive first thing in the morning is great because this will linger in your head the rest of the day. Some of us work with negative people, and I find this to be the biggest challenge to go about our day. What I used to do when I felt that people were annoying me or letting them “Steal my joy,” is I would go into the bathroom and take five deep breaths and say this in the mirror “I breath in positive vibes and breath out the negative, fill me with joy and I release the hate and anger.” I know this might sound corny, but give it a try and really focus on it when you say it. Also remember that we have a “restart” button ALL DAY!! This means that even if your morning started off bad, that doesn’t mean the rest of your day is ruined!  Don’t let one bad moment ruin your amazing day. Hit the restart button in your head and CHOOSE to start all over. Another thing that I have found to be key is NO COMPLAINING!!! And “omg” apparently Facebook has become the vent board for complaining! See when we complain all we are doing is watering the negative seed. Anytime you feel the urge to complain instead say a quick thank you to God or whomever you believe in. Instead of saying “gosh I hate my job.”  Say “Thank you for the ability to work, for health, transportation, and for the finances that my job brings me.” Maybe you really do hate your job, but by complaining all you’re doing is blocking your blessings for what bigger things that are in store for you. Replace your complaints with grace. Perhaps your friends are always negative and you find yourself joining in the negative conversation just so you don’t feel left out. We can’t just stop talking to friends that have been around us for year’s right? Well no it’s not that easy, but what we can do instead is change the conversation or CHOOSE not too join in the conversation. When we talk negative all we are doing is filling our souls with hate and sadness. Today while I worked out I kept telling myself “you’re strong, you’re able!” These positive words made me push myself and I felt great after.  We don’t need anyone to tell us how smart we are or how pretty or handsome we are. We must speak positive words and believe in ourselves. -oneLOVE-
