Routine..good or bad.
So this is my first of many more blog posts to come!
As I was meditating last night a random thought popped into my head. Which then
killed my meditation mode! But anyway so I was thinking how I have never held a
job for more than five years! I wasn’t sure how I felt about that. My first
thought was maybe I am afraid of growing up into the “adult” world. Then as I lay
in my bed that night I thought back to all of my past jobs. I started working
at the age of 15. I got a job at a mall at the pizzeria. I loved that job! I
worked with four Hispanic men. I still remember each one of them. And as I was
thinking all I could think of is how happy I was everyday I had to work! Every
time I got to work I felt like I filled the work place with joy. The four men I
worked with always laughed at my jokes and were very kind to me. They used to
call me “shorty” ha-ha! Anyway so I guess my point is that through out all my
jobs that I have had in my lifetime I was always happy at some point during the
time I was there. But I always became bored with the same routine after 6 or 7
months. ROUTINE. You know I find that to be the cause of so much depression,
cheating, lies and deceiving in our world. The typical person wakes up at 7 am.
They take their shower, get their children ready if they have any, grab their
coffee or breakfast and rush off to work! They then get to their job, go to
their desk or cubicle and log onto their computer. The first 30 minutes are
usually wasted on checking emails, replying to texts, checking messages on the
office phone. They then “work” until it’s lunch time. The highlight of everyone’s
day! The normal person “mentally” clocks out an hour before their shift is
over. They usually use this hour to diddle doddle, text, use the bathroom,
rearrange their desk, touch up their make up, and have a cig. Basically
anything to make that last hour go by faster. Five o’clock rolls around and
they are out the door and into traffic! Afternoons consist of picking up
groceries on the way home, sports practice, and gym. You all get my drift? Yes I believe routine is good with in certain
cases. Like eating Breakfast, lunch and dinner. But do you have to eat them at
the same time every day, I highly doubt it makes a huge difference what time
you eat. In my culture dinner wasn’t ready usually until after 8 and I'm not
some obese person. Stability is what keeps us in a routine right? Like people
can’t just up and quit their job because they bills need to be paid and they
need to eat. Even though they may absolutely HATE the job and the environment,
comfort and stability will keep them there. So they go on every single day of
their lives complaining about their job and the people they work with. This
then fills the soul with depression, sadness, anger, discomfort, and even healthy
issues in some cases. When a human being is unhappy Monday thru Friday nothing
good can come out of their life in my opinion. You know even stay at home moms
have routines. And do you know that in recent studies stay at home moms have
been the ones to file for divorce, or end up having affairs. You see as human
beings we seek adventure wherever and with whomever. This can be a positive
adventure or a negative. I used to consider all my new jobs “adventures.” I
would get to meet new people, a new work environment, and learn a new skill I
didn’t have before. But when people fall into a routine kind of life they tend
to seek adventure in a negative way I think. How can anyone achieve the highest
level of happiness when you know what your day will be like tomorrow and at the
end of the week? The moral of my thoughts...I have never held a job for
over a 5-year period actually maybe even 3! But with a few bumps in the road I
have ALWAYS kept my joy even in the toughest of times. Even when my husband was
at war and I was alone. Anytime I felt like I was reaching a point where my
happiness was being robbed because of a job or just a boredom routine I broke
it immediately! So for those of you who are reading and feel stuck in a rut,
unhappy with your job, relationship or whatever it is. Change is the biggest
fear of ALL human beings! But I am a firm believer that ‘this land is YOUR LAND
this land is MY LAND” We were given this earth to live in it they way we choose
too! Here are a few things I do to keep me positive and happy even when the
world is crashing down around me.
My alarm clock song is “how great is our GOD.” I wake
up praising my LORD. But as I know we are not all religious so I suggest a good
Bob Marley song, “three little birds” or “don’t worry be happy.”
The first thing I do when get out of bed is open my
bedroom and bathroom blinds. I then stand in front of the mirror for ten
seconds and take a few deep breathes in.
I speak to my soul and God (optional for all) with
positive words. I ask to be blessed with HEALTH, LOVE, and JOY. If I Iost
EVERYTHING in my life today I would be okay as long as I had these three
things. These are essential for anyone seeking happiness.
Saying “good morning” to your bf, gf, spouse, roommate,
child whomever you see first in your day is known to make a person more
positive the rest of the day.
I do my best to practice a “oneLOVE” kind of life. If
you want anymore tips let me know. I know of some good books and just general
methods that I use to fight through a rough day. We all have them! But what WE
MUST LEARN is to live each day to the fullest! NOT WORRY ABOUT TOMORROW!
Very nice friend! I agree change takes a lot of courage, and staying positive through all life's challenges is key to being happy. ....And God, prayer, meditation DO help.
ReplyDeleteluv u!!!
ReplyDeleteI skimmed it, but you make good points, adventure is good, I guess why we are in the life style we are in, always adventure am new things, haha, some not so great!
ReplyDelete^^lmao! I love that you are honest about "skimming" and yes this lifestyle def suits me well!
ReplyDeleteVery well written lady! I think about this "routine" concept everyday...I am not really a fan of it either. All work and no play makes Lisa a lame girl! haha This coming from the girl who has an urge to "get away" at least every other week. I can't really do that easily in Africa so I will take strength from your words until the next adventure. Keep on posting! Oh and I will be the first to admit that I pick fights with the hubby when I'm bored! Next time I get on him about something I will think of your words! Love ya!
